About us

Baggins Book Bazaar was established in the Historic City of Rochester in 1986 by the late Paul Minet, a former president of the Antiquarian Booksellers Association (ABA). We are a secondhand bookshop for 'everyman', with many regular customers, some local, some visitors to the old city and those that travel for miles and miles just to experience its labyrinthine rows of books.

We are the largest secondhand bookshop in England, and have had many reviews and articles in the national press over the years, which has helped to make us very well-known throughout the land, plus worldwide. The shop has the hugely popular smell of books. A volatile chemical compound created by the decay of paper, glue and ink. Personal customers are a great part of our business, but we also sell online via Abebooks, Alibris, Biblio and dare we say, Amazon.

Our stock includes books on most subjects, both fact and fiction (general, science fiction & fantasy, crime/thrillers, historical etc.), including childrens (classics, annuals, hardbacks & paperbacks, non-fiction).
